A Mysterious Noise by the Dumpster
This past summer, a woman in Alberta, Canada, was passing by a dumpster when she heard an odd noise coming from inside the bin. Curiosity piqued, she decided to investigate.
The Surprising Discovery
Peeking around the trash, the woman spotted a taped-up cardboard box and a cat who seemed to be trying to get inside. Putting the pieces together, the woman grabbed the cardboard box from the trash and opened it up. There, huddled together, were three tiny kittens.
Rescue Mission Begins
Worried for the cats, the woman contacted the Edmonton Cold Weather Animal Rescue Society, who coordinated with a foster family to bring the kittens to safety. Rescuers weren’t sure how the kittens ended up in the dumpster, but they were determined to ensure the kittens would never be on their own again.
The Unexpected Hero
It turns out the cat trying to free the kittens wasn’t their mother. She was an 8-month-old stray who had likely heard the noise and attempted to help. Her kind instincts saved the kittens’ lives.
A New Beginning for the Kittens
Comfortable in their foster homes, the kittens slowly adapted to their new environment. In time, they gained strength, and their personalities began to shine.
“They were typical kittens, full of life and vigor as they grew,” said Al Buttnor, administrator of the Edmonton Cold Weather Animal Rescue Society. “They became very social and loving.”
Names and Bright Futures
Rescuers named the kittens Taffy, Twizzler, and Souffle, and they named the older cat Eclair. Twizzler and Souffle have already found loving homes, while Taffy and Eclair are still waiting for theirs.
A Happy Ending
Buttnor is confident these cats have nothing to worry about anymore. “Their future is very bright indeed,” he said.
