When Cake Batter finally found his forever home in 2021, the gentle pittie, who had waited at the Pennsylvania SPCA for eight long months, could hardly believe his luck. Despite his traumatic past as a victim of dogfighting, Cake Batter was known for his warm and friendly demeanor, endearing himself to everyone at the shelter. His adoption was a joyous occasion for the SPCA staff, who had come to cherish “Cakey” deeply.

However, happiness was short-lived. Tragically, Cake Batter’s owner passed away, and he soon found himself back at the shelter. Over a year later, Cake Batter remains at the SPCA, and his once-bright spirit seems to be dimming.

β€œHe’s still his cheerful self when interacted with and enjoys his outdoor time,” a Pennsylvania SPCA representative shared. β€œBut he often retreats to the back of his kennel, appearing somewhat disheartened. He still wags his tail and greets you when you kneel down, but he’s aging, and time is not on his side.”

The staff believes Cake Batter could be the perfect companion for the right person. He’s affectionate and prefers to be the only pet in the household. While he enjoys spending time with older children, he isn’t suited for a home with young kids.

The SPCA team remains hopeful that Cake Batter’s wait for a new home will end soon. β€œWe all love him dearly,” the representative said. β€œOur biggest wish is for him to find a loving, safe home where he can be cherished. Cake Batter truly deserves the world.”
