“Fortune smiled upon them ❀️” Last month, a dedicated team of volunteers from Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (SRAS) embarked on a three-hour rescue mission to retrieve a tiny kitten trapped in a storm drain. Dubbed Stormi upon arrival at the shelter, the kitten was promptly taken to headquarters for rehabilitation.

Several days later, fate intervened once more when SRAS received an urgent call regarding another distressed baby animal stuck in the same drain.

Returning to the site, the team was met with the plaintive cries of yet another tiny kitten in need of rescue.

β€œThis time, animal control officer Chris discovered another precious female kitten, and we named her Sunny,” SRAS recounted with relief and joy on their social media platform.

Animal control officer Chris gingerly maneuvered his rescue net into the narrow confines of the drain, his heart racing with urgency. With each careful attempt, he sought to lift the fragile kitten without causing harm. Finally, after several tense moments, Chris succeeded in safely retrieving the tiny creature from her perilous predicament.

The kitten, later christened Sunny, immediately stood out from her sister, Stormi. Sporting a distinctive black and white coat, Sunny appeared even more delicate and diminutive compared to Stormi.

β€œSunny was noticeably smaller and underweight,” SRAS detailed in their update. β€œHer situation would have turned dire if she had remained trapped and alone in that storm drain any longer.”

The shelter’s heartfelt account underscored the critical timing of Sunny’s rescue, highlighting the dedicated efforts of those involved in safeguarding vulnerable animals like her.

Despite their contrasting appearances, Stormi and Sunny shared an equally endearing sweetness that endeared them to everyone at SRAS. Anticipating their reunion, the team eagerly awaited the moment when the two sisters could finally meet again. Unfortunately, Stormi had already been placed in foster care by the time Sunny was rescued. However, SRAS assured their followers that as soon as Sunny was given a clean bill of health, they would facilitate a reunion.

Following a comprehensive medical assessment, which revealed Sunny to be surprisingly resilient despite her malnutrition, the veterinary team devised a nourishing meal plan tailored to her needs. Once cleared, Sunny was swiftly transported to Stormi’s foster home.

β€œAt the shelter, the girls received essential medical care, and we were thrilled to reunite them in the loving foster care of volunteer Nina C,” SRAS shared warmly. β€œUnder Nina’s watchful eye, they flourished with proper nourishment and the dedicated care they needed to thrive.”

This heartening update reflected SRAS’s commitment to ensuring the well-being and happiness of their rescued animals, especially when it came to reuniting bonded siblings like Stormi and Sunny.

Stormi and Sunny reveled in their reunion and quickly resumed bonding in the comfort of their foster home. As they napped and played together, the shelter diligently pursued a permanent family willing to adopt both kittens.

Their efforts bore fruit a few weeks later.

β€œWe are absolutely thrilled to share the most joyous news for Stormi and Sunny,” SRAS announced jubilantly. β€œThey have found their forever home TOGETHER!”

The heartwarming update marked a triumphant conclusion to Stormi and Sunny’s journey, ensuring they would continue their lives side by side in a loving and caring home.

Stormi and Sunny have embarked on their new journey in their forever home, where they explore and adventure together every day. Though still small, these two kittens have plenty of growing ahead of them. Yet, with the comfort of a warm home and endless affectionate cuddles, they are already flourishing.

“From a storm drain to a loving home, these inseparable sisters will remain together!” SRAS joyfully declared. “Here’s to a happy and fulfilling life, Stormi and Sunny!”
