It was an extremely hot June day in Los Angeles County when rescuer Suzette Hall received an urgent call from fellow rescuers Dora and Arturo Flores. As the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, Hall had helped many dogs in difficult situations, but this case immediately sounded especially heartbreaking.
Dora and Arturo had spotted a small dog wandering near the street. His body was covered in thick, tangled fur, and he kept hiding underneath parked cars, likely trying to escape the intense heat.
Covered In Painful Matted Fur
The little dog’s coat was so severely matted that it was difficult to tell whether he was male or female. The mats covered nearly his entire body and appeared to have built up over a very long time.

The heavy knots made it hard for him to move. His legs seemed trapped beneath the weight of the tangled fur, and he was clearly tired, overheated and uncomfortable.
Rescuers Refuse To Leave Him Behind
Dora and Arturo knew they had to act quickly. They gently worked to guide the frightened dog out from beneath the car, speaking softly and taking their time so they wouldn’t scare him further.
Finally, they were able to bring him to safety. Soon, the exhausted pup was in their air-conditioned truck, away from the hot pavement and the dangerous street.
A Microchip Leads To No Answers

After the rescue, Hall’s team discovered that the dog had a microchip. His registered name was Lucky, which meant he had belonged to someone at some point.
However, despite attempts to reach his listed family, no one responded. With no one coming forward to claim him, Hall decided to take him under her care and gave him a new name: JIN.
A Life-Changing Grooming Session
JIN was taken to Camino Pet Hospital, where the veterinary team placed him under anesthesia so they could safely remove the painful mats. The grooming process took hours because the fur was so thick and tightly tangled.
When the mats were finally gone, everyone was stunned by the transformation. Underneath all that fur was a sweet senior dog who had clearly endured a lot.
Health Check And A New Beginning
During his medical exam, the vet team found a fatty lump and some issues with JIN’s eyes. Even so, his overall outlook was hopeful.

Estimated to be around 11 years old, JIN amazed everyone with his strength. After everything he had been through, he was finally free from the painful coat that had trapped him for so long.
Learning To Trust Again
JIN was later placed in a foster home, where he slowly began to relax and show his true personality. At first, he was nervous and unsure about human touch, which was understandable after such a difficult experience.
But with patience, kindness and gentle care, JIN started to come out of his shell.
Ready For A Forever Home
Now that he is safe, clean and feeling much better, JIN is ready to find a loving forever family. His rescuers believe the right home will come along soon.
After surviving the heat, fear and discomfort of life beneath parked cars, JIN is finally getting the second chance he deserves.
