When Sassy disappeared from her fenced-in back porch, her family feared the worst. Days passed with no sign of the little dog, and her mom was heartbroken, thinking she might never see her again.
“My mom thought a wild animal must have gotten her,” wrote Carrie Wells, her daughter, on TikTok. “She was devastated over the loss of her dog.”
Then, a miracle call came from a local veterinarian: Sassy had been found and was safe. Someone had spotted her wandering alone and brought her in. Overjoyed, Wells decided to surprise her mom with an early Christmas reunion.
“I called my mom to make sure she was home and told her I was bringing her Christmas present early,” Wells said.
With her mom’s eyes closed, Wells led her to believe she was meeting a new dog. When she opened them, there was Sassy — safe, wagging, and ready for hugs. Her mom’s reaction was unforgettable.
“She cried and cried when she saw Sassy again,” Wells said. “And Sassy was just as thrilled to be back with her.”
No one is sure how Sassy escaped — climbing the fence seems the most likely explanation — but the family is simply grateful to have her home.
“She was a little nervous at first, but once she saw her doggy siblings, everything was back to normal,” Wells said.
Now, Sassy is back to her happy, playful self. For her and her mom, being reunited is the greatest Christmas gift they could have imagined.
