When Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo showed up for his Dodo Dream Date, he didn’t come alone β€” his young son tagged along to help him meet Luna, a lovable pup searching for her forever home.

To get to know Luna better, Donte had to put his basketball skills to the test. For every basket he made, he’d uncover a new fact about his furry β€œdate” β€” and Luna would get a treat.

His first challenge? Sink a backwards shot to find out Luna’s age.

β€œI haven’t done one of these since I was a kid,” Donte said with a laugh during the video. After a few attempts, the ball swished through β€” revealing that Luna is 2 years old.

Next up, Donte took a 20-foot shot to learn why Luna was still single. While he lined up the shot, Luna couldn’t resist sneaking a few extra treats. When the ball finally went in, Donte learned that Luna had been surrendered by her previous owner about five months ago.

Between challenges, Donte answered fun questions about life in the NBA and his approach to dating β€” all while discovering that Luna adores kids and has a sweet, playful spirit.

Finally, it was time for the last test: a blindfolded shot. Donte nailed it, earning Luna one last treat β€” which she happily devoured as if cheering for his success.

Reflecting on the day, Donte said the highlight was watching Luna bond instantly with both him and his son.

β€œNot knowing what to expect and seeing her β€” seeing how beautiful she was and how she interacted with not only me but with my son β€” that was probably my favorite part,” he said.

Luna is currently up for adoption through Ruff Start Rescue, and Donte hopes her forever family will find her soon.

β€œHopefully she’s not there too much longer,” Donte said with a smile. β€œIt was the best blind date I’ve ever had.”
