A Street Dog in Brazil Found His Beat — and Maybe His Forever Home
At a recent show in Alagoinhas, Brazil, the members of Caffé Pitta were preparing to light up the stage — but it was an unexpected visitor who stole the spotlight.
As drummer Nandinho Oliveira set up his kit, a friendly black dog wandered over and immediately struck up a connection. “He came up to me, and we started playing,” Oliveira said. It wasn’t planned, but something about their interaction felt natural — like an old rhythm rediscovered.
Moved by the moment, Oliveira handed the dog a drumstick. The pup, delighted, seemed to soak up the crowd’s laughter and applause as if he were part of the act. “It seemed like it was something rehearsed,” Oliveira said, “but it was spontaneous and full of emotion.”
After the show, the two stuck together, the dog following Oliveira around like an old friend. Though they parted ways when the night ended, Oliveira hasn’t stopped thinking about him.
“I believe I know where he lives,” he said. “I intend to adopt him.”
With any luck, the next Caffé Pitta performance might feature one more permanent member — not on the drums, but definitely in the heart of the band.
Because sometimes, the most loyal fans are found offstage — tail wagging, drumstick in mouth.
