โ€œWe refused to let her story end thereโ€ ๐Ÿฅบ

It was the kind of scorching June day when the sun feels relentless, and even the air seems to shimmer with heat. Thatโ€™s when the Blue Cross of India (BCI) team received a call that stopped them in their tracksโ€”someone had spotted a dog trapped deep within a drainage canal off the Cooum River. She was alone, desperate, and in grave danger.

Time was not on their side. With temperatures rising fast and the canal nearly impossible to access, the rescuers knew they had to act quickly.

Navigating through heavy traffic to reach the site, the team peered over the edge of a highway overpassโ€”and there she was. An adult Boxer, now named Boxy, was tens of feet below, pacing through shallow water, confused and exhausted.

โ€œBoxy was callously dumped on the road, left to fate,โ€ BCI shared on Instagram. โ€œBut our team refused to let her story end there.โ€

Initially, the frightened dog kept drifting farther down the canal, away from help. The team waited patiently, coaxing her gently with soft voices. When she finally returned to their reach, they acted fastโ€”lowering a rope leash toward her, slowly gaining her trust.

With steady hands and calm encouragement, they secured the rope around her and guided her to a grassy patch that made the next steps possible. Then, one brave rescuer rappelled down to lift Boxy out of the canal and into the arms of safety.

Soaked, trembling, but safe at last, Boxyโ€™s expression began to soften. She was met with kind words, soft towels, and the gentle promise of a new beginning.

โ€œWe brought her to our sanctuary,โ€ BCI wrote. โ€œHer tail wags with joy, [and] her eyes shine with gratitude.โ€

At the sanctuary, Boxy blossomed. She made new friends, rediscovered joy, and slowly healed from the trauma of abandonment. But even amid wagging tails and warm meals, her heart quietly longed for something moreโ€”a forever home.

Then one day, that dream came true.

โ€œSheโ€™s found her forever home!โ€ BCI announced with pride.

Nearly a year has passed since that fateful summer day, and Boxy is thriving. The memory of the canal, the fear, the lonelinessโ€”theyโ€™ve all faded. In their place: love, comfort, and the warmth of a family who adores her.

A second chance at life. A first chance at love. ๐Ÿ’›
