“[W]e made it our absolute mission to befriend him” ❤️
The night before her wedding, Chloe Hayden had no idea that her special day would also turn into a rescue mission. While visiting the wedding venue, a member of her bridal party, Gem Hayden, spotted a tiny stray kitten hiding under an old barn.
The kitten was scared and alone, so Chloe and her bridal party made it their mission to help. Although they couldn’t find the kitten that night, they returned the next morning with cans of tuna and kitten food to coax him out.
Despite checking the venue multiple times during the wedding morning, the kitten was still nowhere to be found. The ceremony went on, but Chloe couldn’t stop thinking about the little kitten. Were there more? Where was he?
After more unsuccessful attempts, the couple decided to leave food out overnight and try again the next day. The following morning, they were confused to find that the food had been untouched. They started losing hope but, just as they were leaving, Chloe felt the need to go back one last time.
She prayed, hoping for a miracle, and when she approached the barn, she was overjoyed to see four kittens eating the food.
Chloe and her husband quickly scooped them up and searched for their mother, but there was no sign of her. The venue owners confirmed they had never seen a mother cat, so Chloe took all four kittens home, giving them a new life.
Though Chloe was grieving the recent loss of her bunny, Posie, the four kittens helped heal her broken heart. She named two of the kittens Woolbrook and Freja (after the wedding venue and a Nordic wedding tradition), while her parents adopted the other two, Lilo and Stitch.
A year later, the kittens are thriving in their new homes. Woolbrook and Freja live with Chloe and have even made a new canine friend, Beatrix. Lilo and Stitch are doing great too, and Chloe regularly visits them.
Her wedding day turned out to be more than just a celebration of love — it was the day she gained four new furry family members, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“Our home is a riot of paws everywhere, and my heart is so full,” Chloe shared on Instagram.
