She needed a miracle.
When animal rescuer Megan spotted a heavily pregnant pit bull wandering a parking lot in Tennessee, her heart went out to the struggling pup. The dog’s condition and imminent delivery made Megan realize immediate action was necessary.
“I couldn’t bear the thought of her having her babies alone,” Megan shared.
Megan attempted to lure the nervous dog with chicken, but the cautious pittie refused to trust her. Understanding the importance of not losing track of the soon-to-be mom, Megan devised a creative plan. She set up a humane trap with bait, hoping the dog would enter after giving birth.
Her plan worked. Once the mama dog entered the trap, Megan carefully placed a collar with a GPS tracker around her neck. Now, the dog could safely lead rescuers to her newborns.
“It worked so well,” Megan said. “We tracked her movements and discovered she kept returning to a specific house.”
The rescuers followed her trail and found the mother tending to her pups under a shed. With great care, the team evacuated the entire family, bringing them to a warm, safe space.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the rescue team, the mother dog and her puppies received the care they desperately needed. The pups grew healthy and strong, and each one eventually found a loving home—including the brave mama, who now enjoys life with her new family.
